Creole Studios partnered with a major logistics and freight company based in Dammam to develop a comprehensive IoT Smart Fleet & Telematics Platform. Designed to handle the rigorous demands of long-haul transport across the Kingdom, the platform seamlessly integrates custom cloud software with in-vehicle hardware, including GPS trackers, OBD-II engine diagnostic sensors, and BLE temperature probes. We approached the MVP by focusing on real-time vehicle tracking, fuel theft prevention, and cold-chain compliance. This platform transforms raw telemetry data into actionable insights, ensuring fleet safety and operational efficiency.

Securing the Supply Chain in Extreme Environments.

The solution is an enterprise-grade telematics platform built to solve the unique logistical challenges of the Middle East. With heavy transport trucks often traveling vast distances across remote areas under extreme heat, maintaining cargo integrity and driver safety is paramount. The platform bridges the gap between physical vehicles and fleet managers by continuously ingesting data from installed IoT hardware. This allows companies to proactively monitor engine health, track exact fuel consumption, and ensure refrigerated trailers stay within compliant temperatures, all from a centralized command center.

Project Challenges

Complex Hardware Integration

Reading raw data securely and consistently from multiple hardware sources (vehicle CAN bus systems, external fuel probes, and wireless temperature sensors) required highly robust communication protocols.

Data Connectivity in Remote Areas

Trucks frequently traveled through remote desert highways with intermittent cellular networks, risking data loss during critical journeys.

Cold-Chain Vulnerability

In the Saudi summer heat, even a minor failure in a refrigerated trailer could spoil thousands of riyals worth of pharmaceuticals or food items. Immediate alerts were critical.

Strict TGA / Wasl Compliance

The Saudi Transport General Authority (TGA) mandates that all commercial fleets integrate with the national “Wasl” tracking platform. The system needed flawless API integration to maintain legal operating compliance.

How did we help?

We partnered with the client to build a resilient hardware-software ecosystem capable of supporting real-time fleet operations across Saudi Arabia’s challenging transport routes. Starting with MVP planning and system architecture, we developed an offline-first telemetry framework that enabled onboard hardware devices to locally cache critical vehicle data during network interruptions and automatically synchronize it with the cloud once connectivity was restored.

Our team engineered a scalable backend powered by MQTT and time-series databases to process thousands of real-time sensor events from GPS trackers, fuel monitoring systems, OBD-II diagnostics, and temperature sensors. Alongside the core infrastructure, we developed an automated compliance module that seamlessly integrated with the Saudi Wasl platform, ensuring accurate reporting of required fleet data and uninterrupted regulatory compliance.

The result was a highly dependable telematics solution that delivered real-time fleet visibility, optimized operational efficiency, strengthened cold-chain monitoring, and provided a scalable foundation for the client’s growing logistics operations.
